BJP forming Maharashtra government. Devendra Fadnavis takes oath as CM
Ajit Pawar has given his support to BJP at the eleventh hour when just a few hours ago it was announced Uddhav Thackeray would become the CM in the Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP alliance.
The President’s Rule in the state was revoked at 5.47 am Saturday after about a fortnight and BJP-NCP government took charge.
Home Ministry notification reveals the revocation proclamation was issued by President Ram Nath Kovind in the morning.
The proclamation was signed by Kovind and issued by Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla. It read, “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 356 of the Constitution, I, Ram Nath Kovind, President of India, hereby revoke the proclamation issued by me under the said article on the 12th day of November 2019, in relation to the state of Maharashtra with effect from the 23rd day of November 2019.”
Immediately after the revoke of President’s Rule BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the returning CM of Maharashtra and NCP’s Ajit Pawar as deputy chief minister.
