Aam Aadmi Party reached chief election commissioner Friday to lodge a complaint against Delhi police for harassing its call centre employees.
Bharatiya Janata Party alleged with EC the AAP call centre employees were making misleading phone calls about the electoral rolls of Delhi.
Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to start from April 11 and in seven phases the polls will end on May 19. Counting of votes will be done on May 23.
Following the meeting by both the parties the Election Commission directed Delhi police to take necessary action against such employees who are making misleading calls. An FIR in the matter has also been filed.
Meanwhile, AAP leaders said the call centre employees are making such people aware whose names have been deleted from voters’ lists and question by police should be raised to leaders and not the workers.
AAP Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “The Delhi police is working like goons. We urged the EC to stop the Delhi police from doing it. They (Delhi police) are pressuring and harassing the call centre employees.”
A senior AAP leader said police cannot harass the call centre executives and the actions taken had been illegal and politically motivated.
The leader added EC can probe into the matter against AAP.
