A new feature is soon to be added to WhatsApp. Testing is in progress and the beta app for Android would enable users to download again the deleted videos and photos. Currently if the media is deleted, it is not possible to retrieve those.
To avail the featre WhatsApp requires user to enrol into its beta programme. There is no parameters to get enrolled. Any user of the platform can become a part of the beta tester for the app.
Opting out from being part of the beta programme is easy too if users wish. One need to simply uninstall the testing version and again download the available public version app from Google Play Store.
The downloaded videos and photos from WhatsApp is saved in the device, in a separate folder. If the file is deleted, downloading again is currently not possible. However, in the new upcoming feature a download button will appear on the deletd files to make re-downloading possible for several more times within three months, beyond it WhatsApp will delete the files from iters server.
Meanwhile, questions are being raised storing use data may have security threat. The Facebook-owned company has assured every data is end-to-end encrypted and hence security question is ruled out.
The company also claims it does not snoop on users’ message but is true it can distinguish between text, image, video and GIF files shared by users on the platform.
