Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has reached 10 days with neither of the country backing down. While Ukraine is fighting to its last men Russia is lining up tankers and trucks outside the major cities of Ukraine. 

Astoundingly Russia announced a ceasefire on the war-hit captured city Mariupol and Volnovakha for humanitarian reasons. This angered people all around the world since Russia gave humanitarian reasons after destroying the whole of the country. The people in both war-hit cities have been given time to evacuate out of the place after which the war might resume in heavy accord.

 The capital, Kyiv, and Kharkiv is Russia’s major targets since the beginning of the battle. Capturing the capital is means the fall of the country. According to the reports, Russia is doing shell attacks on the capital every ten minutes and the tanks are seen strolling throughout the city every now and then.

Less than a week after the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was seized another nuclear plant was attacked. Russian forces launched a major attack just after midnight on Thursday in the southeastern city of Enerhodar. In an attempt to capture the largest Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Europe. This led to a large-scale fire.

Security and firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire. Rafael Grossi, chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said the attack did not cause any damage to the six reactors at the plant unless the training center at the plant was damaged. Ukraine, meanwhile, says it has seized power over the Zaporizhia plant against all Russian attacks as of Saturday.

Kyiv has been bombarded with airstrikes from the hospital, schools to apartments everything has been shelled by the Russian military.

NATO nations once again shocked Voldomir Zelensky over Ukraine’s appeal. NATO countries reject the ‘no-fly zone’ over Ukraine. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that it will not establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine.

Stoltenberg said the decision was made during a meeting with NATO foreign ministers in Basel, Switzerland on Friday night. 

Russia suspends Twitter, Facebook, BBC, App Store services in the country. Meanwhile, meta, Google, and YouTube have banned state media from using the platforms. 

US Vice President Kamala Harris will pay a key visit to the Ukrainian border countries of Poland and Romania. Kamala Harris Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said she would visit the Polish capital Warsaw and Bucharest in Romania between March 9-11. Where key decisions over Ukraine’s current situation can be made.

India’s Airlift

While countries like the USA, Japan, Turkey, and others have sat tongue-tied for weeks without taking no pressure to evacuate their citizens India has been airlifting students from the nearby countries for almost 4 days now.

Indians in Ukraine were first flown to Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland and from there to India on special flights. But after multiple rounds of talks with Russia on Thursday for several hours Russia had not stuck any missiles and informed the Indian Embassy of the clear routes to guide their students to a safer place out of Ukraine. Eleven civilian aircraft and three IAF aircraft arrived in India on Friday with 3,772 people on board, according to the Department of Civil Aviation.

 The Civil Aviation Ministry on Friday announced another round of deployment, 11 civilian aircraft, and 4 Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft to repatriate Indians stranded in Ukraine. These are said to be arriving in India on Saturday from neighboring Ukraine. More than 3000 Indians are expected to arrive on civilian flights. Of these, 10 planes will land in Delhi and one in Mumbai. It was not clear how many would arrive on the 4 IAF‌ flights.

Samsung cuts off Russia

It has also pled tech giants like Apple to cut ties with Russia and one of its competitors Samsung has announced that it will cut off supplies of phones and electronics chips to Russia in the wake of the current situation. Samsung claims to be providing $ 6 million in financial assistance to Ukraine with voluntary donations from its employees. Samsung has revealed that the company is also offering $ 1 million in assistance.
