Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has once again made remarks that terrorize the people of the country.
The sluggish pace of COVID-19 immunization in the Philipines has frustrated the President. So the President went all board to threaten people; he told people on the national television that those who refuse to get vaccination will be jailed or they will be injected with Ivermectin, an antiparasite medicine commonly used for the treatment of animals.
Ivermectin was promoted as an alternate treatment to COVID-19, although it was not approved by the U.S., European regulators, and the World Health Organization (WHO).
” You choose to vaccinate, or I will imprison you,” Duterte said on a T.V. speech late on Monday, after poor turnout, reported at multiple vaccination centers in the capital Manila.
“However, you’re here, and you’re a human, and you can bear the virus, so get vaccinated.
“Otherwise, I’ll order all the leaders of the village to count the persons who resist vaccination. Then, I’ll have Ivermectin designed to inject pigs into you.”
“Such comments have to be made because there is a corona crisis in the country, don’t get me wrong,’ Duterte explained. “I’m just exasperated by Filipinos not heeding the government.” The Philippines, just like other countries, is facing the crucial second wave of Covid-19.
As of June 20, Philippine authorities had fully vaccinated 2.1 million people, the country’s President also added. Duterte also stood on his decision not to permit schools to reopen, who has been criticized for his tough approach to containing the virus.
More than 13 lakh positive cases have been registered in the country so far. As a result, Twenty-three thousand people died fighting the virus.
Some people are reluctant to get vaccinated because the health officials of the country earlier said it was voluntary to get the vaccination, but Duterte’s rhetorical words on Monday have emphasized the covid-19 vaccination is mandatory in the Philippines.
