We all are suckers of saucy food. Especially Italian cuisine, most of the Italian dishes include beautiful herbs and zesty sauces. One of such famous food is Pasta. Pasta is a traditional brunch recipe that originated in Italy and is enjoyed by foodies all over the world.  

The beautiful aroma and lingering flavor of vegetables tossed with freshly cooked pasta create a mouthful of zesty flavors. This is a perfect entrée for dining with family, and parties.

You cannot resist this delicious dish, but there are many ways to make it healthier.

Is Pasta Healthy?

Pasta isn’t basically a healthy dish; 100 grams of pasta consists of 132 calories. But there are plenty of ways to make pasta healthy. Especially if you are on a diet and want to eat something tasty for a change

  • Loading your pasta with veggies is one of the best ways of making it healthy, you can never go wrong with vegetables, including more of them in your pasta is also good for your diet.
  • Instead of the traditional flour pasta, you can choose the alternatives- wheat pasta, gluten-free pasta, quinoa, and such. These are way healthier and tastier.
  • Don’t use readymade sauce make a sauce from scratch using fresh tomatoes, garlic, and herbs this is healthy does not contain any artificial preservatives.
  • Using fresh herbs will ooze the pasta’s taste without adding a point of calories to it.
  • Switch your protein- Instead of adding chicken to your pasta add beans, lentils, and veggies.

Mushroom Bolognese

A vegan twist to traditional Spaghetti Bolognese.

Ingredients: Porcinimushroom, olive oil, chestnut mushroom, whole wheat pasta, garlic paste, carrots, tomato, rosemary herbs, salt, basil, thyme, tomato puree.

STEP1: Put all the porcini mushroom in a pan along with 250ml of boiling water while you start on the sauce.

STEP2: Heat a non-stick pan, add 2 tablespoon oil once it is highly heated, pour all the chestnut mushroom add salt, and fry it well.  Stir the ingredients until they soften and start to leave the liquid behind, fry it until all the moisture leaves the mushroom and turns dark brown.

STEP3: Scoop out the mushrooms pour another tablespoon of olive oil and put onions, carrots, garlic paste, and stir well until the vegetables soften. Add herbs, a pinch of salt, and tomato puree.

STEP4: Drain the porcini mushroom and keep the water aside, chop the mushroom, add both porcini and chestnut mushroom to the sauce along with the liquid kept aside. Cook the sauce for up to 30 minutes until it is thick and rich.

STEP5: Toss the drained pasta into the sauce. Tada, it is ready to serve.

Linguine

Healthy ways of eating Pasta

Green linguine is super easy and fast to cook.

Ingredients: Frozen peas, olive oil, beans, green onions or leek, chili flakes, grated parmesan, lemon, pasta linguine, mint.

STEP 1: Drop frozen peas and beans into the pot with boiling water, remove once softened.Make a puree out of half of the peas with the help of a blender.

STEP 2:  Heat the olive oil in a pan add green onion/leek along with chili flakes, beans, and the remaining peas until it softens.

STEP 3: Once cooled pour everything into a bowl with the pea puree, grated parmesan, lemon juice, zest, and mix it well.

STEP 4: Cook the linguine accordingly, drain it and keep some pasta cooked water behind.

STEP 5: Toss the pasta into the pan along with the mixture stir it well, pour water consistently, and cook the pasta. Garnish with mint and parmesan (if needed).
