India has added 40 new billionaires in 2020: Ambani, Adani’s wealth leap

Even during the corona disaster, 40 new billionaires have emerged in the country in 2020.

 Lockdowns imposed by governments due to the covid-19 pandemic in India have had a major impact on the poor but the richer are getting rich as seen.

According to Hurun Global Rich List 2021, India is the third most populous country in the world with 209 billionaires.

Of the 177 billionaires in India, 60 are based in Mumbai. Then there are 40 billionaires in Delhi and 22 in Bangalore.

Mukesh Ambani has held his position as the richest man in the country. His net worth is $ 83 billion. Mukesh Ambani is the eighth richest man in the world.

Reliance Industries‘ market value grew by 24 percent last year, further strengthening its position.

Gautam Adani’s wealth, on the other hand, doubled to $ 32 billion last year. Gautam Adani became the second richest man in the country after Mukesh Ambani.

He also rose to 20 places internationally to become the 48th richest man in the world. His brother Vinod Adani’s wealth also rose 128 percent to $ 9.8 billion.

Hurun also took into account the respective entrepreneurs and their family fortunes, which lasted until January 15 this year.

IT company HCL founder and chairman Shiv Nadar has become the third richest man in the country with $ 27 billion in wealth.

 Lakshmi Nivas Mittal of ArcelorMittal and Cyrus Poonawala of Siram Institute came in fourth and fifth respectively with 19 billion dollars and 18.5 billion dollars.

 The Indian American businessman Jay Choudhury the founder of Z-Scholar’s wealth increased by 274 percent by $ 13 billion in 2020.

Byju Raveendran and his spouse’s wealth also grew by 100 percent to $ 2.8 billion.

 Anand Mahindra, head of the Mahindra Group, said his family value also increased 100% to $ 2.4 billion.

 Biocon chairperson Kiran Majumdar Shah’s net worth rose 41 percent to $ 4.8 billion making her the richest woman entrepreneur of India, followed by Godrej’s Smita V Krishna with $ 4.7 billion and Lupine’s Manju Gupta with $ 3.3 billion.

Whose wealth declined

The wealth of 365 billionaires around the world declined, 197 dropped off the list and 32 billionaires have died.

  Acharya Balakrishna, the chairman of Patanjali Ayurveda company, India, fell by 32 percent in 2020 to $ 3.6 billion.

The “Oracle of Omaha” Warren Buffett also jumped down to 6th position but stayed in the run despite losing 11 billion dollars last year.

And Luckin coffee Founders Lu Zhengyao and Jenny Qian Zhiya dropped out of the list due to the increase of fraudulent activities in their profits.

China ranks first in terms of the numbers with 1,058 billionaires.

 Internationally, Hurun has a total of 3,228 billionaires on the Global Rich List 2021.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk dived back into the number 1 position with a fortune of $ 197 billion after recently losing $ 15 billion because of a tweet, followed by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos with a fortune of $ 189 billion, and Bernard Arnold with a fortune of $ 114 billion are in the top three billionaires in the world.

The three new faces Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and  Zhong Shanshan of YST have added 169 billion US dollars in the past year alone.
