AIMIM leader Waris Pathan apologizes for '15 crore Muslims' remark

AIMIM leader Waris Pathan took a reverse step on his ’15 crore Muslims’ remark on Saturday claiming some of the media houses have twisted it.

In a rally recently he said the Muslim population of 15 crore in India can overcome 100 crore Hindus if united. He was addressing to the crowd in context of anti-CAA protests. His remark became controversial.

Briefing the press he said had no intentions of hurting the Hindus and it is a strategy to defame him by twisting his remark.

Taking back his words Pathan said it is a political conspiracy against him. He apologized for hurding any community.

Pathan added, “I am a true and proud citizen of this country.”

His remark in last week’s rally was, “To those saying we have only put our women at the forefront – only the lionesses are out and you’re already sweating. Imagine what would happen if we all came together. We are 15 crore, but that can outweigh 100 crore, remember that.”

Earlier on Friday, AIMIM Maharashtra chief and Aurangabad MP Imtiyaz Jaleel said remark of Waris Pathan is not supported by the party.

Jaleel said AIMIM will ask for an explanation from Pathan over his comment and if possible the party will set dos and don’ts for party workers while addressing rallies.

Party chief Asaduddin Owaisi too criticized his remark.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha has filed an FIR against the leader for his remark.
