China’s Wuhan is on a lockdown amid coronavirus outbreak due to which 80 people have lost their lives. Air India Boeing 747 is on a standby at the nearest airport for the evacuation of Indian citizens.
An Air Indian official said the Boeing 747 is waiting for the decision of Center to evacuate Indians from the epicentre of novel coronavirus (nCoV) outbreak.
Wuhan is a major transportation hub in China and is the epicenter of nCoV virus.
Many countries have started screening people at their airports who are coming from Wuhan in Hubei province for symptoms of the virus.
United States announced a special flight for Tuesday from the Chinese city to San Francisco to relocate consulate personnel and Japan too is coordinating with Chinese authorities to evacuate its citizens from Wuhan.
World Health Organization revealed Sunday a report mentioning more than 2,000 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed globally. Most of the cases are from China.
Health officials across the world are on high alert. Five people have died in Thailand and four in Singapore. Similarly, about a dozen have been reported in Australia, Malaysia, France and Japan.
A total of nine people have died in Malaysia, France and Japan.
Meanwhile, World Health Organization has not announced it as ‘global health emergency’.
