Could NCP emerge as king maker in Maha guv formation

The political drama in Maharashtra is now turned toward Sharad Pawar-led NCP following invite of Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to submit a letter of support by Tuesday 7:30 pm.

Shiv Sena failed on Monday to prove majority in the formation of the state government and Aaditya Thackeray sought three more days. Governor expressed inability to accept the demand of deadline extension.

The deadline for Shiv Sena ended Monday 7:30 pm. Just five minutes before it Congress issued a statement saying matter will be discussed with NCP.

The statement was in context to the claim of Shiv Sena that both NCP and Congress have sent crucial letters of support in the government formation path.

Congress general secretary Avinash Pande said, “We felt that before taking a major decision, more consultation was required particularly on terms and conditions… We are hopeful Maharashtra will have a government comprising Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP. We have not rejected the proposal.”

However, Pande added that the governor has not rejected the claim of Sena on government formation but has just declined to grant a deadline extension and so it is believed the party’s claim still stands.

Following the meeting with governor the Sena said willingness has been shown to form the government and asked for deadline extension as the two political parties are in talks.

Aaditya Thackeray added further, “Our demand for an extension was rejected, but our claim stands.”

Earlier, the deal between Shiv Sena and BJP failed to form government.

Meanwhile, Union minister Arvind Sawant of Sena resigned Monday from Modi’s government in Centre.
