Lalu Yadav at poor health; 37% kidney functioning

Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is not in good health and his kidney is working only 37 percent. Lately, for about a week, his condition has been not stable and is hospitalized in Ranchi, Jharkhand, at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief is serving a 14-year jail term since 2017 after being convicted in fodder scam.

According to Dr PK Jha to IANS, his kidney is damaged by up to 63 percent.

The doctor added, “Lalu Yadav had developed a small boil which later turned big. It has been operated on. Infection was also detected during treatment of the boil. The kidney functioning has been reduced upto 37 per cent from 50 per cent.”

Among the other ailments the 71-year-old is suffering from blood pressure and diabetes too. He is undergoing treatment for all the ailments.

Younger son and former Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav met his father Saturday and said was worried over the failing health of Lalu Yadav.

Tejashwi Yadav added that better health treatment is required for his father.

Meanwhile, it is learned the RJD supremo is worried about future of Grand Alliance in the state. He directed Tejashwi to contest assembly election in Jharkhand in coalition with Congress.

Lalu Yadav stepped into politics at a very young age. He was a student leader at Patna University and 1977 became the youngest member of the Lok Sabha. He was then 29 and became a parliamentary as a Janata Party candidate.
