Feroz Shah Kotla pitch worst: Ricky Ponting

Feroz Shah Kotla pitch is in controversy and Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting blames ground staff to have made it the worst possible for home team.

Run scoring was difficult and the pitch was perfect for the bowlers of Sunrisers Hyderabad, claims former Australian captain after easy defeat by five wickets on Thursday.

Afghan spin due of Mohammed Nabi and Rashid Khan of Sunrisers took three wickets by giving just 39 runs in eight overs combined.

Ponting added, “I think it is fair to say that the wicket surprised us a lot. Talking to the groundsmen before the match, we thought this would be the best pitch that we had by far but it was the worst. You saw how little it bounced and how slow it was.”

He reasoned out that the pitch suited out spinners of Sunrisers completely as slower balls are almost impossible to hit.

The Delhi Capitals coach added if pitch of Feroz Shah Kotla ground remains the same for the rest of the IPL matches, he would seriously think about the selection of his team.

Ponting further said the Kotla is their home ground and his team needs to play such conditions better than the opposition even though two of the three matches they played less good than the oppositions.

He added the team definitely needs to play and perform better in the remaining three matches and no stones will be left unturned.
