Second to him is Ab de Villiers with 192 sixes and third in the six-hitter list is Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni with 187 sixes. The fourth and fifth positions are being held by Suresh Raina of CSK with 186 sixes and Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians with 185 sixes respectively.

Gayle has some more noticeable performance worth mentioning here. Before the start of Saturday’s game at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali he had scored 4093 runs from 114 matches at an average of 41.34 with 6 centuries and 25 half-centuries.

He is so far the sixth highest run-scorer in this season of IPL. In the first match he made 79 runs against Rajasthan Royals while in the second he grabbed man-of-the-match award.

He also is now the fastest player to reach 4000 runs, breaking David Warner’s record in the IPL.

Gayle reached the milestone in his 112th innings and 113th match while Warner made in 114th innings.

He bacame the third non-Indian batsman to reach the 4000 runs mark and enter 4000 club on Thursday playing against Mumbai Indians.

Until now ten batsman have scored 4000 runs in the league. The first player to reach the mark is Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli. He achieved the record three years ago.

Gayle’s opening partner KL Rahul said, “He’s somebody who’s just been so destructive. It’s so important to have somebody that destructive and to have someone with that kind of talent and experience. That whole package is the best for a team to have.”

Gayle plays for Kings XI Punjab.
