President Donald Trump wants to make changes in the immigration laws as he thinks it has lately become a laughing stock globally and those who come to United States illegally need to face consequences.
Speaking in an interview with the CBS News’ ’60 Minutes’ the president said people with merit should be allowed to enter the U.S.
Trump was asked whether to consider reintroducing some form of family separation policy to reunite those migrant children and parents who were separated forcibly for months. He said there is a changed law now.
The president further added in the programme that was aired on Saturday that the U.S. economy is strong and everybody seeks to come here.
A recent report reveals the White House may consider on a policy called “zero tolerance”.
Earlier the president accused Democrats for supporting a policy that resulted with illegal immigrants entering the country.
He said, “The only immigration policy Democrats support is catch and release. How about that one? You catch a criminal thug, you take their name, and then you release them, say please show up in five years to court. Now, number one, it’s ridiculous. Number two, they never show up. What a mess.”
Trump said the U.S. has dumbest immigration laws and the world laughs at it.
He wants such people to come to U.S. who have talent and can help companies which are moving back to Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Carolina, Florida, Kentucky and other parts of the country.
