Navjot Sidhu Accepts Imran Khan's Invitation To Attend Swearing Ceremony 1

Former Indian cricketer and Punjab minister Navjot Sidhu said Imran Khan is a man of character and he would travel to Pakistan to attend his swearing-in ceremony as prime minister.

Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has invited Sidhu and other big names including Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, and former cricketers Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar for the August 11 ceremony.

Probably Sidhu is the first among them to accept the invitation and has publicly revealed to be attending Khan’s big day saying sportsmen have ability to build bridges and it is a great honor for him.

He added, “Men of genius are admired, men of power are feared, but men of character are trusted. Khan Sahab is a man of character. He can be trusted.”

Following Khan’s political party emerging as the single-largest party in July 25 elections Sidhu was one of the first to congratulate him.

PTI emerged victorious winning 116 of the 270 seats. About ten crore people were registered voters and in the 70 years of Pakistan’s history this is the second time people experienced democratic transition of power.

To become the next prime minister of Pakistan and form government the Khan approached to MQM-P for support. His pointman Jahangir Tareen invited former rival Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan to join with their party.

For decades the MQM-P has ruled the commercial hub Karachi and only grabbed six National Assembly seats (including two in Hyderabad) in the recent general elections. In 2013 polls the party had 24 NA seats.
