There are more than 5,000 doctors from Nigeria in South Africa, offering their continued services in different sectors including teaching, public hospitals and private hospitals.
A press statement released by Vice Consul, Information, and Culture, David Abraham, was released on Monday in Abuja adding that virtually every hospital in the country has sizeable number of Nigerian doctors.
Mr Godwin Adama, the Consul General of Nigeria in South Africa, “This shows that virtually every hospital in South Africa has a sizeable number of Nigerian doctors; and this includes teaching, public and private hospitals.”
He added that doctors and other professionals from their country are adding value to the system in South Africa and this cannot be over-emphasized.
Adama further mentioned that South Africa is replete with several professionals from their country who are helping in the economic development in public as well as private sectors, but it is unfortunate for them that such things have not been highlighted and have even gone under-reported.
He continued saying that Nigerian professionals will no longer sit back in South Africa and allow their contributions undermined.
Adama even mentioned that many Nigerian Doctors have been rendering health services to less privileged members of the society in South Africa and this service will be taken care by consulate to celebrate doctors and professionals.
