Some much-awaited passenger-friendly features have been added to the official website of Indian Railways, the (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp) IRCTC, to facilitate faster booking of tickets.
The IRCTC had earlier announced to be revamping its website as well as app to make it more passenger-friendly and booking of tickets even under Tatkal Quota would become easier.
The newly added features include e-wallet to help users book tickets through the official app, IRCTC Rail Connect.
Official tweet from e-ticketing arm of the Indian Railways read in this context, “Now IRCTC e-wallet users can book rail e-tickets including of Tatkal quota through IRCTC Rail Connect Android App.”
The e-wallet of IRCTC is similar to PhonePe, Mobikwik, Paytm and other e-wallets in India which enables depositing of money in advance.
To take advantage of the e-wallet while booking tickets customers first need to registered at it through the official website of IRCTC and complete verification process by either providing Aadhaar or PAN card.
A one-time registration fee is levied of Rs 50 and credit to the e-wallet account can be done between Rs 100 and Rs 10,000.
The e-wallet service could turn to be useful for customers as it saves time while booking tickets by eliminating payment approval cycle.
Apart from e-wallet the Indian Railways has added a cab booking facility on its Rail Connect app.
