e-commerce is one of the biggest retail trends growing day by day, the growth of online shopping is much more rapid than brick-and-mortar stores.

According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, online stores have generated about USD half a trillion in the past year with around 9 percent of total sales.

 In comparison with the overall retail industry, online sales rise between 15 percent and 17% per year.

The trend is stronger worldwide. Around $2.3 trillion was spent in 2017 by 166 billion online shoppers.

By 2021, sales were more than twice as high as today.

Amazon

No introduction is required for Amazon. Jeff Bezos established the company as a marketplace for selling books in 1994. From this small beginning, Amazon has now become the world’s largest online conglomerate with the highest sales-generating e-commerce enterprise.

Amazon now has become a comprehensive online shop with a variety of products including electronics, clothing, software, pet supplies, and of course books, and also introduced e-book reader kindle and streaming services, and much more.

Amazon is undoubtedly the world’s biggest e-commerce firm, having annual revenues worth billions of dollars, hundreds and thousands of employees, and a filthy, rich owner.

Walmart

Walmart is the largest brick and mortar retailer in the world, generating an annual revenue of almost half a trillion dollars.

However, online sales only account for a small portion of this revenue.

In recent years, the company has made heavy investments in e-commerce. This year, it expects to reach a 40% increase in online sales.

Most recently, Walmart has invested in e-commerce Flipkart, Walmart holds 81% stakes in Flipkart, a leading Indian e-commerce company.

The increase in net sales on e-commerce was more than 97% and has made a major contribution to the company’s overall net sales.

Alibaba

We just can’t forget Ali Baba when it comes to top e-commerce companies.

This e-commerce giant was founded in 1999 by Jack Ma, originated in China.

 It offers consumers as well as retailers access to the marketplace.

 Alibaba has several suppliers offering products in several editions.

The vast presence of Alibaba in China is sufficient to make this the third-largest market in the world.

 The company is now trying to get a stronghold on the global market.

eBay

eBay is one of the world’s leading e-commerce companies based in California. Established in 1995, the enterprise was one of the first s

uccessful survivors of online shopping of dot-com-bubbles.

eBay provides a marketplace for C2C and B2C transactions. where people can join and sell or resell their products or to other people.

 eBay offers almost everything from a range of product categories.

Interested parties may bid on the product(s) and the product is obtained by the highest bidder.

Flipkart

Flipkart is a Singapore-based online retail store that operates from Bengaluru, India.

Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal graduates of IIT founded Flipkart in 2007.

 The pair decided to start their own online shop after working for Amazon.

Like Amazon, Flipkart initially concentrated on becoming an efficient online bookstore. Flipkart made a number of acquisitions to expand its operations in the Indian market.

Flipkart was quickly acquired by Walmart in May 2018, after winning the bidding war Walmart bought the Indian e-commerce company for 15 billion dollars.

Walmart now owns 81% of the company’s shares.

Jd.com

Jingdong or jd.com is one of the top e-commerce companies.

It runs from Beijing, given its rapid growth, many of the top e-commerce companies, including Alibaba, consider it a capable rival.

 It started in 1998 and began online trading in 2004.

Although JD is not as large as Ali Baba, it had more revenue in 2017 than Ali Baba. JD also has considerably more employees than Ali Baba.

JD is Famous for its high-tech advanced delivery system, using drones.

Recently, JD has decided to build 150 drone launch centers in order to provide a more effective supply network in rural areas.

Rakuten

      Rakuten.com is one of the top e-commerce companies in Japan and the largest e-commerce website.

 Rakuten is also known as the “Amazon of Japan”.

Rakuten is super popular in japan 90 percent of Internet users in Japan have registered accounts in Rakuten It houses 40,000 companies and has bought and transformed numerous foreign assets into its’ overseas branches.

With global transactions of up to 12.9 trillion Yen, Rakuten is one of the world’s largest e-commerce companies.

The organization employs over 10,000 people and works in 24 countries.
